Hi all,
Looking into getting my first gti just after a bit of guidance on issues to look for anything worth checking.
Main contender is a 07 plate 58k on clock, dsg, sunroof, xenons, elec chairs.
Bodywork looks good condition, interior clean and tidy.
£9000, is this about the right price range or off the ball?
Also is the DSG box reliable or could I end up with some high bills for common issues
Any help much appreciated,
Matt.

What's the link for this GTI mate? Seem's overpriced to me as you can get an Edition 30 for that money. :popcornsoda:

Been to see a few around 60k mark for £6500-8000 but they haven't had xenons or dsg and/or paintwork has looked a bit poor.

For 9k you should be able to pick up
A good spec edition 30 with around 60k on mate
-
My wife bought a gti
Since I've found front wings are rusty
Look for this
Look on honest john site
Gives all car faults
And there are loads

Seems over priced bud, you can pick decent gti's up between 6 and 7k
-
As above mate, that is a couple £1000 overpriced - if that is your budget, go for an Edition 30
-
Ok cheers; wasn't sure on what price to be looking at as the is a leap up in spec/power for me so thanks for the help

Yeah, does look a bit on the steep side of things price wise. Have you tried elsewhere on other car sites?
-
I can help you if you like mate for 9 k we have just taken a px in at work. 58 plate grey 3door gti fully specced apart from Zenons with only 22k on clock?

i would,t go for the DSG box, i would go for the bulletproof manual box :)

There are pros and cons with both. Quite a few people including me find the DSG much nicer to drive and it also benefits from slightly better economy and quicker 0-60 time.
You also need to bare in mind a Manual 'box is guaranteed to need the clutch replacing at some point whereas the DSG clutches generally last.

There is a few stunning golf's going on ScottishVAG for £10,000. The guy has done a lot of work to it and it's only got about 27,000 miles on it.
I've attached a link to the reply if you're interested, here's a picture for you.

Also, if you're looking for something much better performance wise but willing to compromise on price and milage then this is worth a look too, the mods are worth a lot of dollar. £10000.
