Pretty sure there is a Top Gear from 2005 which compared them, and a CTR / Megane?

There was a VXR today trying it on with me, but I'm not interested in that. From what I read a stage 1 Eddy is akin to a stage 3 VXR?

Stage 3 astra vxr is around the 300bhp mark, and not much more to get out of them turbo wise. Stage 2+ dsg ko3 gti should have one if that's what you mean? Or just get an ed30 go stage 2+ and have no doubt :wink:.

I've got an old Evo mag where all the hot hatches were tested.

K03 GTI came out 2nd slowest (CTR was the worst in every test).

It's 40bhp down on the VXR so it could only go one way. . . .

As an overall package, the mk5 is far far better  :happy2:

Thanks all,  I only ask as I had a vxr 5 years ago and they actually feel quite similar but I think I prefer the gti!

should be compared to ed30 stock for stock..

k03 is not capable even tuned vs tuned vxr.. k04 ed30 tuned much faster then a tuned vxr  :smiley:.. still rather have a normal gti then vxr though  :smiley:
