Title: 1K0615424P rear caliper... Is it Bosch? TRW? ATE?
Post by: Bazgti on March 20, 2014, 09:46:32 pm
Evening all,

I finally received the health check today from my service on Tuesday and it seems that my off side rear caliper has seized. Does anyone know the price of new?

Also I'm looking at some brembo oem style discs and pads. Has anyone had any experiences with them? Or anything like? Or am I best just sticking with new OEM in your opinion's?

Thanks

Just buy a second hand caliper from Ebay and buy OEM/cheaper discs and good pads.

That was what I was thinking of doing. There's a few on the bay but I was just wondering the price on new to compare. Bit impatient to wait until tomorrow to ring the dealer. Again that was my idea but I reckon a decent set of branded would work out cheaper than buying oem discs

As a guide look at this for item 1

http://www.partscats.info/volkswagen/en/?i=cat_vag_models&brand=vw&number=1714&set=1728&ein=2007&f=474&hauptgr=1234567890&hg=6&grf=061560409&bf=61562&hgug=615&ug=15&parent_id=2347732&detail_id=2347742

Item 1K0 615 424 P - £178:14 full retail inc vat

Now you would need your PR code inside your service book for which rear brake type you have fitted!

Are the visually different? Its just ive sourced one off ebay and need to check the correct fitment

Thanks

Reckon ive jus bagged a bargain too. Jus got front brembo discs n pads for £90 with a bit a haggling. Substantially cheaper than buying OEM from the dealer

Can be either ATE or Bosch but I can't tell you the differences however, the ATE caliper will have those letters stamped into the body.

There may be another member who know more on this!

Can anyone confirm the difference of the 2 calipers? It's just I've sourced a new one and I don't want to buy the wrong one.

Thanks
