Title: Golf edition 30 scam!!!
Post by: burger187 on March 24, 2014, 05:39:22 pm
I saw a car which interested me but it seemed too good to be true (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi61.tinypic.com%2F2drxnc8.png&hash=474aa8598b26ec9a8e2634a79d9ae15d085aebad) , the seller claimed to be based in germany in the army but the car is from north london  , but needed funds first before ''she'' releases the car, i asked to see the car for inspection but said she cant without no payment lol

Somebody I used to work with saw a 2008 Mini Club on Autotrader advertised for £4,500 and thought it was the deal of the century. The seller claimed to live in Spain having recently moved from Harrow, London and and was unable to get the car insured locally as it was right hand drive. My colleague who is not the most worldly paid the full asking price by bank transfer and strangely enough never heard back from the seller.

What makes it funny is she fell for the same scam 3 months later!

Really feel for someone so starry eyed that they would pay for something so dear without ever setting eyes on it. But yet when selling something pristine and genuine you get all the time wasters of the day. Strange old world.

the seller wanted the payment by amazon  :signLOL:

Hi,
I don't have a contact person back home, to help me with this sale. I paid Amazon to use this services. They informed me that we must proceed with the official procedure. They will not permit any vehicle view, test, check at the custody place (neither the owner can pick up his vehicle... he will receive it at his home if he want that) because they have to many vehicles in custody. So it will be a chaos if every possible buyer would like to view or pick up the vehicle. That's why the seller must pay the shipping taxes.
I don't have anything to hide this is their procedure. We need to be both protected.Your payment is 100% covered, because I have open a Bank Account with Amazon FPS and if something goes wrong, you will get a full refund from my account. Amazon will confirm this, when we will open the case with them.
If you are interested in a purchase, reply to me with your full name and address,so I can start the transaction with Amazon.
 Many thanks, Sarah

The car will be delivered directly to your home address with 2 keys, service records, V5 logbook signed by me and ready to be registered in your name. You can also check that the VIN printed on the V5c matches with the VIN on the vehicle.
An advantage for you is that you will not have to pay me first. Amazon will provide a non-interest trust account managed by them, where you will secure the payment for the car. I can't access your money and I think this is fair enough for both of us. Amazon will forward the funds to me only if you confirm that you have agreed to keep the car upon inspection.
Inspection period was set by Amazon at 7 days. They said when purchasing a used car it's best to have a mechanic look at it, so 7 days is more than enough to arrange that. If you will find any issues with my car, you will have the right to reject the car and ask Amazon to refund your payment. They are very secure because your payment is 100% covered. Your payment is just a security measure to make sure that the buyer is serious.
If you need more info please ask. If you are ready to move forward please let me know your full name, shipping address and a contact phone# and I will ask Amazon to open a case for us.
When the Amazon transaction will start, they will instruct us how to proceed.
Many thanks, Sarah   :signLOL: :fighting2:
