Title: DSG adaption via VCDS - worthwhile?
Post by: Itguy on March 24, 2014, 06:22:04 pm
Hi everyone

Anyone done this on their gti?

After picking up our new S3 8V with Stronic (dsg, 6spd) it has shown me just how slow our GTI box is.

There is quite a pause between when you take your foot off the brake and then accelerate to it picking up drive. It's like the clutch has a long way to release and it's taking it's time!

In general the shifts are pretty smooth but it also seems to hog a high gear too much (new S3 far better).

It's also very tricky to pull away quickly in a smooth way. Seem to either creep slowly or shoot off at warp speed wheelspinning (traction control) away. It's tricky to pull nicely onto a roundabout.

I don't have VCDS at the moment but am considering it to do the adaption. Is it worth it?

Thanks

They newer boxes are just 'better', but a DSG adaptation does help once every so often.

Do you mean a DSG reset or is this something else?

Reset = adaptation
