Hi guys, I'm jake from frome in Somerset, after lots of changing my mind almost daily I think I'm gonna take the plunge n buy a mk5 gti!
Had a mk4 gti before but sold it for an e46 325i which is a nice car but just don't feel the love like I did the golf, so I'm returning to the vag side but fancied something newer.
Been reading up as much as I can on what to look for, cam followers dv's all that jazz.
I just can't get my head around the pricing some over 100k at like 7000 yet others with 70/80k at 5 grand? :stupid:
Hopefully find the one for me soon and can spend many an hour here reading up on what to spend money on next lol
-
Welcome
Prices vary, that's life. You'll know when you find the right car and this will include you feeling that "the price is right". Remember that show that Leslie Crowther used to host?
-
Welcome along! It took me 5 months till I found mine :sad1:
-
Welcome :happy2:
-
thanks guys, the hunt is on!
Just a quick question as google is throwing me everything but what i want, is there a thread here to identify what Headunit is in a car from just lookin at it? a lot of adverts dont mention it and i have no clue which is which lol
is there a list of which headunit has what features? id really like one i can plug my ipod/iphone into ive seen mentioned RCD510? but have no idea what that looks like compared to the rest

Welcome!
My parents are from Somerset, some great roads around Chard :driver:
Enjoy your GTI (when you get it) :happy2:
-
Well the Beemer went today so the search has well and truly began!
As always though it seems when I'm actively looking they're all sold :sad1:
-
Welcome mate, took me 4 months and so many viewings to find the perfect GTI for me. :happy2:

I hope it doesn't take me that long, think my sister would get annoyed with me having to keep borrow her car,
-
Welcome...
-
Still only a potential owner.... Bloody hard work finding a nice one that meets what I want and in budget haha
-
It took me 18months to find mine. I wouldn't jump into it just because you're in need of a car. In the meantime I'd say get a loan of something else and don't make a bad decision out of frustration!
Again, if you don't want to hold out for a factory high spec for months & months you could always get a tidy example of a lower spec model and then retrofit the parts yourself to save money...
-
Welcome mate, prices always vary depending on spec & condition but GLWYS! :happy2:
-
thats the thing on Fleabay sometimes the bogo basic cars are the same price as the specced to the nuts ones lol
Perhaps im just being unrealistic in what i want, under 80k FSH for around 6grand, when i still had the beemer there were loads spoilt for choice now ive got the ££ nothing :sad1:
the hunt goes on dont really wanna have to get another motor as a stop gap as its just a pain when i do finally find a nice gti
-
Welcome along mate
There's usually some nice spec'd gti's on here that are very well priced.
Check the for sale section
-
Perhaps look into a previously damaged car? If your budget is 6k...
-
Going to test drive a DSG at some point then can widen my search, there's one in classifieds here which looks sweet
-
Long shot but I don't suppose anyone has richn83's number ? I've PM'd him but he hasn't been on for a few days
-
It took me over 2 months to find mine and I found it where I least expected to find it! 5 door in black excellent condition with only 43k on the clock but I did pay £8400 but it was worth every penny! Your know when you find the right one trust me :happy2:
-
I am after a GTi too and my budget is similar to yours. I've seen richn83's advert and car too and do like it too!!
I have sent a PM too but no luck. Let me know if you hear from him too if you don't mind. :happy2: :happy2:

No worries, I got a reply.
