Title: GTI Spring Festival
Post by: GTI.Dav on March 26, 2014, 10:33:19 pm
Next Sunday 6th April is GTI Spring Festival at Santa Pod. I went last year 12 hours after I picked up my Edition and it was a good day with some strip action to watch too.

I wasn't planning on going this year but I've changed my mind and will probably go if the weathers looking good. Anyone else planning on it? Be good to see some of you

I will be there, maybe in a Citroen DS3 or hopefully in mine - as mine goes into the bodyshop on the 3rd.

If my car is there i'll be on the uk-mkivs.net clubstand that i organised or in the show and shine. depends on weather.

And if you have a failure of sorts do not repeat DO NOT run the whole strip and risk dripping fluid on the strip.

I saw a gearbox go south and the driver carried on,he is still remembered by others in the queue eight years on
[/Quote]

Did he actually know?  When my gearbox went last year I didnt know until I went in for a  break as there was no noise,  bang, etc

Turned out to be a fun day in the end even after a wet start and couple of hour delay drying the strip out when we turned up  :fighting:

Was just getting the hang if it in my new car in the afternoon then the heavens started to open again so we called it a day

Managed 13.2 twice in a row as my last attempts so I'm really happy with that  :pomppomp:

Was chatting to the guy in the dark blue mk7 golf R and his best was a 13.04  very impressive standard time indeed

Looking to getting back down there once I've had my exhaust fitted and stage2+ loaded to see what I can manage then

Dave

P.s. Congrats to justin getting a shout out for fastest audi on the day by the announcer  :notworthy: even though he missed it cos he'd already legged it  :booty:

Nice to meet you justin. Fastest for me was 13.9. After last time doing a 14.14 I wanted to do a sub 14 so was happy with that.

The 1/4 mile does make your car seem slow tho doesn't it?

Why did you launch from idle!! What staged car where you against?? No wonder u only managed 14.1

You should be getting 13.5 at least with stage 2

I recon your weight advantage was lost carrying Jays Teddy bear on the backseat

All the information is in the vid. description. Mines stage 1 Steve.

Edition 30 DSG Stage 1 REVO --- 13.94s @ 102.33
vs
Edition 30 Manual Stage 2 REVO --- 13.78 @ 104.33

Didnt want to r*pe the DSG launching it as it needs a service and this was the first run of the day having been sat in the queue for ages (coldish engine)

Dunno whos car it was.. but he reckoned he was running 340bhp.... as you can see from the timings theres no chance its making that power.

Oh mines not showing stats from this link, only the video.

It won't be stage 2 at 340.. Must be a Superchips tuned car  lol

Yeah to be fair the engine was cold.

"start the engine and let it warm up"
nah it'll be fine  :signLOL: :signLOL:

And I did try and try and try to get Rich to do a proper launch.
Still had a great day nevertheless.

I reckon once rolling the Stage 2 eddie gained no ground over us. It was pretty even. It was all in the start.

Then again 340bhp on AMD's dyno....

And the difference between owning a twin clutch over a stick shift.. DSG stage 2 V manual 2+ would be about the same IMO

^^ yeah.. I expected the stage 2 car to pull a few more lengths ahead, just shows how much extra pace you retain with DSG
