Title: Brake discs and pads
Post by: Motor Mad on March 31, 2014, 02:10:41 pm

Hi all

I've had a quick search but couldn't find much info on discs and pads.

The other halves Golf GTi feels like the brakes have seen better days. It's not covered many miles (nearing 37k), but do squeal occasionally. They bite well but fade if braking at motorway speeds. Are there any recommendations for discs and pads? The car is only used on the road so doesn't need anything too special. Any recommendations and approximate costs would be appreciated.

Thanks

I recommended them to another member last week. Ive just got brembo discs n pads all round for just over £200. Sure start, Failsworth, Manchester. Ask to speak to Paul. Mention James with the GTI, he'll sort you a deal out. 0161 681 6022. Or eBay 231152318850 use this code to search the company.

Also consider Opie Oils for Brembo brakes.  Free postage and there are usually online discount codes from 10-25% off available if you search the net.

Link to both front and read if you want the full set.. Same seller as mentioned above too i believe :happy2:

Also some people would recommend the OEM Discs with the Ferodo DS2500 pads which are widely rated on this forum. This is a little bit more expensive option but just thought i'd put another option out there.

Bumping an old thread I started on a previous Golf GTi.

Are these the standard size?

I have an edition 30 running standard power. The brakes are in need to replacing and this seems like a good price.

Euro Car Parts are good on price for Brembo, replaced my fronts for approx £100, think rears were a bit cheaper.
Check for discount codes first though
