Title: Rusting Arches/Rear Boot Badge

Just purchased a 2005 Golf GTi, and on closer inspection of the arches there is some slight bubbling to both front, nothing too major but it is noticable.
I've read that this is quite a common fault with the mk5 golf. There seems to be a little rust going on on the rear boot badge, looks as if someone has touched it up a few times.

I've heard something about a 12 year anti corrosion warranty. Can anyone explain if or not I'm able to claim and the likly hood of VW paying out on a 9 year old car?
