Title: Millkek exhuast crack
Post by: Airz182 on April 02, 2014, 01:32:16 pm
Bought my car couple months ago, came with full milltek r32 style exhuast, unfortunatly its sounds like its started blowing from up front, not got as far as looking upfront to see where its blowing, but on the back box where the pipe goes into the side of the backbox, the weld has a crack.
Has anybody else sufferd with this?? Can i get it rewelded?
Ive asked previous owner, if he still had recipt for it as i thought milltek would have lifetime garrantee, but no joy with previous owner still having recipt!

A few members have reported cracks in Milltek downpipes. If the warranty is still valid you should get it sorted for free

Would the warranty still count as i wasnt the original person who bought it, and dont have recipt?
How would i go about chasing up a claim cheers

Not sure then. Maybe worth speaking to Milltek, not sure if the warranty extends past the original owner

Had a similar thing on my old leon. Bought it second hand but it was shocking how it had fallen apart and milltek were excellent and replaced it, great customer service. The replacement was then fine.

Get in touch with them and see what they say before you mess around repairing it.

I recently had one fitted and from memory it's guaranteed for 80000miles although not transferable.

Also noticed the receipt didn't have my name so was curious to how they would know albeit the car details were on the receipt.

Its crazy how an expensive aftermarket exhaust fails like that yet most stock systems will last the lifetime of the car, certainly 100,000miles easily.

X2

Stock exhaust is made of inferior materials and cheaper too  :signLOL:

Milltek wanted me to go through who ever supplied the exhaust. So just going to get it welded myself.
Anybody know of any decent places around manchester area, that could do it. Cheers

A Milltek with a cracked weld? A most unusual event...

Not!
