Not sure about the GT but the GTI is 312mm and the R32/S3 are 345mm :happy2:

GT is a spec level.
Not a model.
TDI 170s get 312mm brakes i believe all others are 288.
And the 288mm and 312mm take same pads apparently.

Www.brake parts.co.uk - good site to reference sizes of pads and discs.
-
Just checked that site and it's not clear...
R32 is 345mm
But it states the gt, gti have 3 options 280, 288 and 312
How you know which to get? Other than measuring your own?

The 1.9 tdi and smaller capacity petrols have 280mm discs.
2.0 tdi (pre-facelift GT) has 288mm discs, the GT170 and GTI have the same 312mm discs, both the 288/312 setup use the same pad and caliper, just different carriers.
The pads to look at between 280 and 288/312 are very different.
If you have a 140bhp diesel in standard form then you will have the 288mm setup

Skard - thank you :happy2: legend
I have the pre face lift gt so this will ave the 280mm discs. If I upgrade to gti fronts and rears Its not just the carriers i need then? I though calipers were the same.
Ii would need to ask for discs and pads for a 312mm gti with pads to match? For the same year?

You'll have 288 not 280.
For the front it is just carriers and discs to go 312
