Title: Gti tfsi smf conversion
Post by: majeka on April 04, 2014, 09:12:21 am
Anyone had any experience of luk smf conversion (261104807838) or Sachs smf conversion (251036066949) sold by techniclutch on eBay. My dmf is starting to knock and thinking of changing to smf.

Mines got a SMF and I can't notice any bad points to it :)

I don't know what a standard DMF is like on a GTI though tbf.

If I remember correctly the techniclutch don't have a very good reputation, they are remanufactured parts and not brand new, I was looking at them when I had my leon cupra r, and read a few bad reviews on clutches failing, I ended up gettin a gen Sachs  SMF conversion done yes it was more expensive but it gave me piece of mind that the parts where genuine .

I'm not sure mate, it was done before I bought the car. I only found out by reading an old progress thread!

I'm fairly sure its a Techniclutch one as he states its a carbon kevlar clutch + single mass flywheel.

It's been in a year now with no problems running at 250bhp.

Try googling Techniclutch  :scared:

I nearly bought one from them and looking at the feedback, I'm glad I didn't

Buy cheap buy twice, spend that bit more for piece of mind, especially if you are running more than standard power.

I can't find any actual evidence of how bad techniclutch are, just people scaremongering.

Starting to worry about mine now if it is a techniclutch one.

I saw a post from a while back where RTech recommended them too?

I looked at the Kevlar clutch and SMF from Techniclutch. To any bad reports and reworked or remanufactured parts ! In the end I decided to pay out better money  for a loba-sachs as I had no faith in posts about what Techniclutch sell, it's really not worth risking putting sub standard parts in then finding out it's not upto the job. Do it properly once !

If I fit another dual mass which one would you lot recommend. There's 2 keep popping up one from Sachs one from luk, both similar price around £300. Thanks for replies I think I'll steer clear of mr techiclutch.

Vw clutches and flywheels are luk ones. So if you want oem i would go for a luk kit.
