Title: How to tell which headlights on on '55 GTI

Just got my mark v GTI - quite a step up from my old mark iV

Anyhow, one of the headlights has got some water in the sealed unit - so probably needs replacing.

But i'm not sure with what

Firstly - Hella or Bosch (quite a price difference)

Secondly - how can I tell what kind of headlights i have - Halogen? Xenon? - is there a code on the light i can look up?

In the picture on my signature below.. The silver gti has normal lights, the blue R32 has Xenons.

As for which brand, I can't help you..

Hope this helped identify what you have?

Mine has the little VW logo in the headlight - looking at these pictures I suspect they are the normal type.

As a side point, does anyone have any issues in setting the level of the beam (via the dashboard) - doesn't seem to do a lot.  I know on my previous golf, I could hear the motor moving the bulb

Never had an issue levelling my old headlights, i can't recall hearing the levelling motors but with that said i think i only adjusted them 1-2 times. Can you see them move?

First check - doesn't look like they move
