Recently acquired a set of r32 rear calipers painted but i want to change the colour.been trying to wire rush the old stuff off but its proper caked on...anyone suggest a good remover ????...or is bead blasting probably the only real way to get back to standard metal finish???

Depends what you're looking to do. If it's baked on that much then a simple sanding block to level the surface followed by a paint preparation wash/wipe and then primer/direct to paint will be fine.

Problem is they are yellow..lol..I've been using wirebrush attachment on the drill but gonna take me hours unless I can soften this stuff up

If it's on there solid you don't need to remove every bit of last paint.
Just get off what you can, and primer and paint over it. Far easier. They are also only brake calipers..

A blowtorch would be very effective. There may be knock on effects however...
-
Get them sand blasted and powder coated in the colour of your choice would be easier.
-
Do not powder coat brakes..... you need to paint them.

I had a similar issue with my s3 front brakes. Initially used emery cloth to sand it and then used a wire brush. Did the job. Came out okay for a first attempt.
