Well after just 2 short years the GTI has been sold :sad1: By far the best car i have ever owned!
The only reason im not keeping her is because i am at the top of what i can afford with the std car. I cannot afford to do a re map, no little body mods or upgrade the car in any way. Its not that i think the car needs it, its just i have modded all prevoius cars and i just cant afford to do anything to this.......
But fear not, i havent gone far. Just done a deal on a 56 plate Audi A4 S line 170D :happy2: I know i said never to the devils fuel but the running costs are WAY lower and i will be able to afford mods on this car! Managed to get 11K PX on the GTI which i was pleased with considering its got close to 60K on the clock...
So the list of mods is Loooooong
Full Leather Re trim
New double din sat nav head unit
re map (Obvoiusly)
new wheels 19"
Coilovers
brake upgrades
some carbon details
rs4 steering wheel
exhaust
Happy days :happy2:

i was going to trade my gt tdi in for either a R32 or Ed30
but like you say its the running costs that made me think twice about it--i know they are faster but mine will cruise in 6th gear at 80mph pullling 55 to the gallon :happy2:

ahhh these figures make me miss my oil burner!!
**takes a quick trip out in the gti**
now i dont :signLOL:

Nothing wrong with 50mpg and 200bhp :)
-
Saloon.....
My wife thinks it looks like an old mans car.......... just wait for those 19" Lm's
-
I hope the running costs are as low as you wish for - however my MK2Leon FR TDI (170) had a DPF fitted which knocked the fuel consumption massively. I was lucky to see 42-43 on a long run (90 miles). Assuming the Audi has a DPF?
I got rid off my 170 for that reason. You can get DPF delete pipes now, and remaps to suit, so bear that in mind when you do remap.
Anyway get some pics up - You know the rules..........................

The awful, awful noise for one
Dont see the point in diesels, save some money on fuel to spend on something you like.....i like driving my car so a bit pointless for me :signLOL:
-
^^^^^^^
Thats what i always said.......... If i could afford the fuel its a no brainer
-
i like the sound of diesels but more important the mpg am a yorkshire man after all :signLOL:

.........same here never had a diesel & never will.

just picked the new steed up, got back a couple of hours ago and im definatly impressed and surprised!!! I know its a bigger car and only has 170hp but its not that much slower.... juts takes so loooooooong for any power to come in.
I was sad to see the gti go but, ;like i said to my wife, "its only a car, they come and go" i woulddnd compaure the 2 cars either, the golf was so nippy and responsive with a sporty engaging drive where as the A4, although very impressive for a big soot chucker is more of a cruser.....
Before you all start in know that :worthless: :signLOL:
Just need to wait till tomorrow.....

Looking forward to the piccies!

Ive just put a deposit on a devils fuel replacement for the GTI too. :sad1: But its still VAG like yourself and just a stop gap. Ibiza FR TDI 130 to be precise.
However, next year (well, around 12-18 months from now) i plan to get another Mk5 GTI. Hopefully an Ed30 next time.

^^
My boss has one of those (traded in from a Porsche Cayenne S) and loves it!!
