Title: New Member and GTI owner!
Post by: RAMBEAU on April 11, 2014, 01:16:52 pm
just recently got my licence back and sold my civic which had to be done due to the amount of trouble it got me in. so i decided to get something subtle reliable and comfortable a mk5 gti... ive had it for a week and allready have the urge to up the juice and start doing my bollocks on it. got my music sorted and now i wana get her up to the 350 mark when im done but willing to take my time with it.
thinking of getting a remap to stage 1 i see there is quite a serious improvement in power over stock with no mods bar the map, so at this time im looking around for vw specialists that can help me do things properly.
also looking at a CAI and TBE, what suggestions/recomendations do ppl have?
all input would be highly appreciated.

Welcome mate, if you want power gains up to the 350bhp mark Id suggest Ko4 converting your GTI. :happy2:

Sweet yea already been looking at ko4 turbo kits and inter coolers and all tht but that won't come for a couple months till I sort the money out for it.. But in the mean time I wana just get a CAI and a stage 1 remap but not sure weather to drive all the way to R-tech or to go down the road to a good vw specialist that can put a apr map onit. Would it really be worth the drive?

A lot of guys on here think so. People driven from Plymough, Southampton etc. It may work out cheaper than an APR map even with the fuel costs.

do some research on the forum, plenty of remap threads out there, and plenty of great tuners!  :happy2:

yea it would still work out to be cheaper to go to R-tech but not if n when i decided to get an exhaust system (turbo back) plus a bunch of other bits like say a front mount, i can go a get a remap for free up to stage 2+ but when i decide to go and get a KO4 kit i will have to go and get a custom map to get maxium out of it.. and also the garage is just down the road from me and are a highly rated vw specialist..

also decided if im going to have to spend in the region of the 300 mark for a decent CAI instead of meassing around buying crap or second hand decent bits.. decided to go and get a vw racing CAI..
