Hi guys I've been lurking on here a month or so now but yet to set up a car thread until now.
Got an 08 manual 3dr just had the belt and pump done and I'm super happy with the car. My only gripe was the audio which I've now sorted (details below).
Here it is:

Had to get rid of the factory stuff so now fitted a nav unit and speaker upgrade

Also did a bit of machine polishing on it this weekend. I'm breaking the car up into sections will eventually do it all but focusing on the worst bits first.
Not every swirl removed but I'd rather be safe than sorry and cut too deep.

Looks great :happy2: Very nice car and good work
-
Thanks. Really happy with the car, it's replaced a bmw 135i which was good but had a fair few faults and dealing with my local bmw dealer was like pulling teeth!
Apart from changing the wheels in future to something a little sexier I'm finished with it. No major mods here, just want a comfy and swift work car with a good SQ hifi installed.
-
Good work Pete.
The fence is ready for some creosote though :signLOL:
-
Haha I'm not much of a gardener to be honest. Maybe one day ;)

Made me actually lol!
Looking good!

Well like my garden this thread hasn't had much attention for over a year lol.
Few updates, had the spoiler refitted because of condensation in the high brake light under vw warranty (mad bit of engineering that!).
New wheels and tyres. Bbs vz with Michelin pilot super sports. The wheels are lovely but the tyres are the stars of the show!

Also as I do vinyl wrapping I had some spare orange and decided to tart up my grille stripe for summer as I've got a few chips on the original red. Pics on the car look washed out but it's super orange like the first pic.

Good work there! - I want to try some machine polishing, going to do it with the compressor and see how we go.
Good idea with the front, I do vehicle wrapping (part time) so might look at doing little bits, not too much though! :happy2:
-
Cheers the polishing is easy but I think its best to be realistic about how far to take the paint not to make it so thin you can never work on it again.
I fancy wrapping the whole car but can't find a colour that I prefer to the black.
I did do the dash door strips in carbon but now hone gloss black on them much prefer it to the brushed aluminium look. I'll take a pic later...
-
As mentioned above, here's the gloss black dash/door bits.

Looking good Pete! I have been toying with wrapping the interior strips either gloss or carbon to match the steering wheel covers.
-
Easy job just make sure you don't use metal tools to remove them because the metal would mark. I have plastic trim tools - cheap and essential!
It's handy too in case people give the seat belts a ninja star throw into them as my passenger side had when I got it.
The carbon I had before looked good but it's been over done now lol.
