Title: New Edition 30 Owner in South Yorkshire (HOPEFULLY)...
Post by: t20lau on October 13, 2009, 04:41:36 pm
Hi Guys,

Just wanted to introduce myself, my name is Tom Lau, and I’m from Sheffield! Well I've been roaming around the site for a couple of weeks now so decided it was time for my first post, now I'm a breathe away from signing on the dotted line!

I currently own a BMW 3.0si Sport Roadster, having come from a Astra VXR...The change is due to me no longer willing to drive a 1.4 Ibiza or 1.2 Polo whenever I need an extra seat, cause having to drive with extra weight and 200bhp down is really no fun!!!

Well I've got a few tuning plans already for the 30 LOL! So will be looking for advise and what not from all you knowledgable lot ;)

Cheers Guys,
Tom

H and Welcome along.. :driver:

Another former VXR owner... :happy2:

A former member of VXROnline by any chance?! Any mods on the VXR you had?!

How do you rate the VXR to the GTi?! When I purchased my VXR originally in 2006 I acutally test drove the GTi, opted for the VXR due to the Power, and the Cost for the kit (VXR have much better interior IMO for the moment)...I'm now looking at either a VXR or a GTi, this time around the GTi wins because of the 30editon, I'd still pick a VXR over the standard GTi!!!

Hi yes registered on VXR online as well...Moschops.... :happy2:

Had a Vectra VXR 280 model, left it standard which I sold in lue of the Edition 30.  The Veccy never held my confidence as much as the Golf does, every time time it went in to the dealers they would rag it..plus the depreciation on it was like dropping a piano out the top floor of the empire state building...not good.  :signLOL:  The Golf however   Plus the VW delaer got me a good p/x on the Veccy against the Edition 30 :happy2:

I had a similar problem with my Astra, the dealers imo we're very poor in many respects, HOWEVER, due to a few things I set my heart on the VXR and TBH, I never once believed I made a bad choice, I loved the car to bits, but truth be told if the Edition 30 was out when I was in the market things may have been a tad different ;)

Must say, you Edition 30 looks nice!!!

I do regret selling her but don't get me wrong I love the S3!

The 4WD, brakes and build quality are fantastic in the S3 but it does everything so well that it can make the driving experience a little dull at times. The ED30 can be a bit of a handful when its been mapped etc., which I found great fun. It used to make me giggle when the front wheels spun up at 80 mph in the wet and the brakes decided that they didn't want to work when slowing down from a ton plus! I know it sounds crazy but it adds a little charachter to the car! You don't get any of that in the S3 which is why I mention it can be a little dull!  :happy2:

I dont know if I should be calling you a loony or just think some people just cant be pleased  :P

I do know what you mean though! My old VXR put a smile on my face everytime I put my right foot to the floor! But the Z4 just doesnt do it for me! I'm changing due to particality but some part of me has always wanted a turbo back in my life!!!

I have a place near Meadowhall, but originally from Barnsley!

Dont suppose you fancy meeting at Meadowhall Car Park 2moro? HAHAHA! I have someone viewing my Z4 there at 10am

Should have my deposit down on a Edition 30 today so look out in the Memebers Ride Section later as I'll be revealing the car I'm buying
