Title: Intermittent power loss help needed
Post by: Andy69 on April 18, 2014, 12:10:38 am
Right, my remapped mk5 gti has started playing up.  70% of the time it just loses power, it drives and runs fine (no missfires or juddering etc) it just feels like it's only making 100hp. It Doesn't put the eml on either.
Iv had vag com on it and it chucked up a code about the maf, so I unplugged the maf and it started running well again (almost felt like full power) but it put the eml on. So we assumed the maf was dead, got a new 1 from dealer car ran great for 2 miles then went to no power again.  Unplugged maf and it ran well again.  Check the code and it came back p0172 "system to rich bank 1".
I fitted a rev G DV two weeks ago before maf because that was on its way out and stripped and cleaned the PCV, so I'm stumped tbh.
Could it be a a naff part from the dealer?

What was the code you pulled when you had it scanned?

If it's running to rich perhaps the fuelling on your map set up is set to "rich" so will need adjusting? Mines quite rich so played around with settings through the laptop and my REVO SPS switch now it's sweet  :happy2:

Amd remap, I made the intake myself out of some left over 80mm pipework and a pipercross filter from my last project.
