Hey
I know this has probably been asked many times before. I currently have an mfd2 dvd version fitted in my car, i want to connect my ipod to my unit and be able to change tracks on the unit. I have heard i can get a unit from xcar links that will allow me to connect my ipod and have functionality. Is their any other options i have i.e. original VW ipod connectivity? and what functionality will i have?
Thanks

Hey
What functionality would i get with this kit? and would it fit my mfd2?
-
its basic functionality, track change ect, yes direct fit mate :happy2:
-
sounds good, oh what about charging? does the unit also charge the ipod?
-
no mate, only the MDI kits charge. but they won't work on the earlier head units
-
damn :( i really want something that can charge my ipod too, looks like i will have to buy the aftermarket one.
Thanks allot for the advice

Xcarlink and some VW iPod kits will charge your device... I have an old Connects2 which charged it when I was using it.
-
none of the VW kits charge on the MFD2, only one that charges is MDI but not on that model of head unit

I had an MFD2 on my old Golf
It had a VW iPod kit but the 8pin mini-din cable that came with it broke. I bought an XCarLink 8pin to iPod mini-din connector which had a small box on it but no extra cables (plugged right into the VW ipod control box) and it charged my iPod Touch and iPhone 4

half and half may work, but VW don't do one "per say"
