Post by: reaper7881 on April 22, 2014, 07:14:30 pm
ive seen that a couple of people have sucessfully retrofitted a set of scirocco clocks in to their mk5 golf

what does this entail and how much work is it to get it working correctly

thanks

Speak to Eddie.

I have seen it first hand in a 05 2.0 TDI that a guy had done himself, he was polish, he fitted my GTI US cluster for me.
He said it was a pain in the arse to get the ABS stuff to work properly.

Very impressed with that above link, I didn't think it was possible to fit BAP (white screen) clocks to Mk5 era red-screen cars.

I'm sorry but this wasn't the first as I saw it done towards the end of Summer 2012.

Well, okay, first Scirocco R cluster

The ones I mentioned were Scirocco TDI R-line cluster , I can only presume it's similar to the 'Rocco R petrol ones.

Taken a pic from  his car which was working
Working with steering wheel controls, with immobilisor active and functioning correctly

a very good mod but IMO needs the rest of the interior lighting changing to match.

You need the clocks, wiring loom adapter, late gateway and if your car is pre 2007 then you may need to swap your ABS controller for a later type one.
Also, you will need to change the transponders in your keys and then its possible to code them to the MK5.

I did not need to swap my abs controller and mine is a 12/2006. If your car is from before 2008 though, you need new immo-devices. If you are willing to drive to Poland (or send your current cluster and be without car for 2-3 weeks) to get it done, I know a guy which are super crazy at this. He did a fantastic job with my premium cluster and he's also a very friendly guy.

You don't always need to change it, it depends which version is fitted!
