Title: My old mk5 GT170 DPF issue... update
Post by: lippyx on April 23, 2014, 08:42:25 am
Thought some of you might like to know the latest.

Some may remember the issues I was having with the DPF on my last GT170, and the hassle I was getting from VW and warranty. After only a few months of owning the car, I started getting issues with the DPF, and have lost count how many times I took it back to the VW dealer to get it repaired, being told it was a common fault and I'd have to put up with it, to being told it was a manifold issue, and an exhaust sensor etc.

I eventually took it back to the dealer 16 months later, with the dash lit up like a Christmas tree and the car in limp mode... and they still tried to tell me nothing was wrong!!

They eventually agreed to "swap" the car, and only then did they admit it was the DPF, and it was going to cost THEM over £2k to repair before they could sell it on!!!

I took on the mk6 GTI, which I love to bits!!!

They gave me a poor PX value for my old Golf, and so I ended up paying full price for a faulty car (which also had a new turbo and various sensors replaced through out ownership!)

I didn't think it was fair or right, so after investigating my consumer rights, found out they actually out done me by £2500.

Fast forward to now, and I have just won a court hearing against them, and been awarded £2500 plus costs!! They didn't even have a case, in fact even the judge said how poorly prepared they were, and if that was how they dealt with legal cases, he wasn't surprised I had problems!!

Just wanted people to be aware that dealers DON'T have the upper hand, and to look before you leap, check what rights you do have, because as a consumer, you have quite a few!!!!

Very poor service... and it appears they haven't learnt from it... now the parking sensors don't work on my GTI and its been 2 months since I have told them, and they still haven't got it booked in to be checked/fixed.... question mark over who will foot the repair bill!!!!

I certainly won't go back there again when I upgrade!!!

good result on your lost cash.

From what I remember its anything under 50k fr small claims. Yep, done it on line, got the CCJ I needed went to court and represented my self and won. The VW manager was a blabbering mess. They tried to set the CCJ aside, but failed to even turn up to the hearing firstly!! The judge was obviously impressed with my organisation, and even asked me what I thought of VW's lack of organisation!! I replied with "if I can do it, why can't a big company like VW!" He looked at the manager and said "I couldn't agree more!".

Now I am just waiting for the cheque from the courts to arrive!!!!

Good work bud.

If they're still shocking then keep going! You may never have to pay depreciation again!
