Hi all, just wonder that i have read some where on this forum that this model sat nav Radio does not
Require a new Canbus.
That it should be ok for a 06 vw golf GT TDI
That the RNS315 or RNS 510 do require a new canbus
but the RNS310 model does switch itself off thus no battery problems.
If you could please give me your thoughts as i would like to keep the 6 disc changer in the arm rest
to work with a VW head unit.
As i allready have a Parrot hands free kit for ipod, usb and AUX connections.
Or would i be better off getting myself a MFD2.
Give me your thoughts

Yep I've had my RNS 310 installed for over 2 months and had no battery drain issues whatsoever. 2006 GTI with the original CAN Gateway (1K0 907 530 F).
Its a really nice unit and suits the car well, excellent value for money too. I'm running the 2012 maps on mine which support full 7-digit postcodes. Also integrates properly with the Highline display and MFSW, no VCDS coding required. Would 100% recommend :happy2:
The Parrot kit should still work but you might need to change round the Mute pin at the rear of the quadlock, I need to do the same with my Bury kit at some point. Not sure on the CD Changer but I can't see why it wouldn't work.

Usually version L and later gateways are the ones that work with the third generation oem head units without battery drain issues.

Version info below but wouldn't get hung up on it as I don't think there are any different revisions of the 310 like there are for the 510.

The RNS 310 seems to be the exception to this rule as a few of us have installed it to cars with older gateways and not had any battery drain issues. Its almost like the unit was designed for retrofitting to older cars, it also has a front mounted AUX which the others lack.
