Title: Help Retro fit headlamp washers
Post by: V2 FAN on April 24, 2014, 08:03:23 pm
Hi Guys,

Just had a horrible thought.

I've recently purchased some delicious Xenons and I will be looking at getting the headlamp washers fitted.

Do I need a new bumper  :sad1: or does the cap on my existing bumper just need changing?
I've ordered new headlamp washer caps from VW and these are being colour coded to suit my existing bumper.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is simply a case of swapping the caps over.

Any pointers much appreciated  :happy2:

Evening Jake, as the GTI can have xenons as an option there is no extra bumper numbers in ETKA for this so that means should be easy fit inside your bumper with just the correct bits

I retrofitted them on my old car, replace the single moulding with a two piece one (smallest one pops out with washer). All the cable routing tabs and mounting points are already there

I'll keep you updated if you like.
I have another thread which lists all the parts but like Skard said it cost him a few quid and there's the expense of fitting

Fit it yourself mate, the hardware is straightforward, I routed it like this http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4146014-Few-shots-from-headlight-washers-retrofitting

If you buy the 5.5L bottle from VW/TPS it should come with the additional holes bored out already. The trickiest part is the loom which needs fed from the engine bay into the CECM, fusebox and instrument cluster (if you want low level fluid warning), but even that is no problem  :happy2:
