Title: New Ed 30 owner.
Post by: Spankiee on April 25, 2014, 09:39:57 am
Hello everyone. I shall be collecting a white edition 30 on Sunday and I was wondering if anybody has any sneaky tips for things I should be looking out for.

It's done 43k and it's just had the timing belt and water pump done at vw.

I have many more questions about exhaust systems, remaps and suspension

Welcome mate, buying an Edition 30 was a good choice. As the timing belt and water pump have been changed did they change the cam follower or the diverter valve? Regular oil & filter changes etc. :happy2:

Thanks :) can't wait to pick it up tomoro I've been trawling the site for hours and hours over past 2 days trying to familiarise myself a bit with these engines and bits that need to be maintained.
He sent me the receipt It doesn't mention this cam follower thing I'll have to get one ordered.

Any one know a good remapping place in the north east??

I spent a good 6 hours detailing the car yesterday. And I'll do another few hours today.

Tar spots, those little rusty bits that sit on the paint surface and all other nasty a have been removed :)

The germans really do know how to paint a car properly.

I've already ordered H&R springs. And various badges and LED Lights to tidy everything up.

It's just the manual. I was a bit disappointed but then I thought ahh well it's 1 less thing to service etc.

Looks great in white.  I'm still deciding whether to get DSG. I had it In an r32 and it was great, but seem

Yeah I do love a good manual gearbox. I've heard a couple of expensive stories about dsg aswell but I'm sure it's only a very small percentage go wrong. Must be nice to have launch control etc. I'll get that in my next golf my eyes have been opened to how cars should be now and I'll be sticking with vw from now on I think.

Can't wait to get the springs on and refurbish the wheels as there are quite scabby in places.

This forum is amazing aswell. Everyone seems decent and helpful compared to other sites.
