I put my car into Star Performance for brakes and suspension upgrades. I had them fit a new pcv, then they were to drop a stage 1 onto my otherwise standard gti. I was told that my ecu is locked. They suggested that perhaps a previous owner had a free trial. How do I get my ecu unlocked? I have no idea who locked the ecu. The car is currently running standard boost.
-
My understanding is you need to get the ecu reflashed with the standard vw software then go from there.
-
The manufacturer are not "locked out", however to get VW to flash will probably cost.
Try your nearest Revo dealer just say you think it's had a trial at some stage and you want it flashed back to stock.
I'm surprised Star can't tell you who has mapped your car.

If the ECU is locked then they can't read the map so couldn't say who's software it is. Likely candidates are Revo, APR or GIAC. I had the same issue with my Leon, turns out I had Revo Stage 1 software on there, but set back to the 'standard performance'. Revo should be able to tell you if you give them your VIN, not sure what kind of records/details anyone else would need

I can re flash standard software onto these ecus.
pm if its still needed.
