Title: Recommended Courier Companies
Post by: Matto on April 27, 2014, 11:04:29 am
Can anyone recommended a courier company please. I have a parcel which will be too big to send via Royal Mail so would have to go Parcel Force. I really don't want to use them as the last package I sent which them go smashed to smithereens so want to use another reputable company.

If it helps the parcel weighs around 1.6kg.

Thanks

I've used myhermes quite a few times

DPD are a great service, their tracking shows the exactl location of the van what delivery number he's on eta, etc etc

I've sent things like speakers in big boxes through interlink express with no issue and they collect from your door.

Parcel to go is the one to use. You put the sizes and weights in the scale then it suggests the cheapest courtier and you book from there.

Interparcel every time. They generally get prices from multiple companies and you can choose which one to go for.

Interparcel or parcel2go are usually cheapest for UK/EU shipping, for outside EU best to look at transglobalexpress.

DPD/APC/UPS all good

I use Collect Plus an awful lot if it's a smaller package that falls outside of Royal Mail's cheapest sizes.
Collect Plus is so easy as you just drop it into your local corner shop and don't have to wait for a courier. They list two price levels and the cheaper one seems just as quick as the dearer one!
I also use Parcelmonkey and Parcel 2 Go for bigger packages but don't use Yodel through those brokers as Yodel are useless. In fact they're worse than useless!

Thanks for the recommendations. I have given MyHermes a try this time round so will see how they get on. Will keep this thread saved for future reference.

Cheers everyone  :drinking:

So it seems I won't be using MyHermes again. Buyer just informed me the glass on the picture frame I sent is smashed. I made sure it was well packaged with plenty of bubble wrap. Why the f*ck can't these companies deliver stuff without smashing things to bits  :fighting:

I'm not surprised....from my experience they are an amateur company trying to do a professional job but generally failing. Slow and complicated I found but each to their own

Yes you are right it could happen with anyone. The thing is, it shouldn't. No one gives a sh*t anymore and takes no care in what they do.

My experience of DPD has been very good, although others may have had rough encounters with them.

From Europe, specifically Germany they were excellent, and their supply chain is actually linked up. I was suprised. Thumps up from me.

I use ups. If you go on clickandsendparcel.co.uk they are cheap on there.

Don't use parcelforce i us to work for them and they fling parcels over the cages etc and they way they piled everything up is a joke. I was shocked on my first day. And they are ran shockingly aswell specially at christmas.

Ive used city link not bad but heard shocking storys about them from people who have worked there.

Used myhermes and never had a problem but are budet couriers.

Used yodel and they are shocking lost my parcel twice.Orderd a set of tyres aswell and i wasnt in and they let some random guy come in to depot and collect them and basically stole them.

Used fedex and they left a £500 watch on my doorstep  and said i signed for it.

Ups are only company i trust. Sorry for the long story lol.
