Title: Hello - Newbie Edition 30 Owner - Suffolk
Post by: jamie on April 27, 2014, 11:14:00 pm
Hi all,

Thought I'd post up a photo of my recent purchase - a Golf Edition 30.  The plaque number is 1587.

Picked up the car from Scotland and drove it 430 odd miles (7+ hours) to Ipswich in Suffolk.  Really enjoyed the drive with a plenty of the grin factor. A long first drive is a good way to get to know a car.  :happy2:   I got an average 34 mpg on the journey home too!

I have a few plans for it and a few things to sort too.  I'll give it a proper clean and post up a few photos in the members area.

Jamie

This was just after I picked it up...

Welcome mate, you made the right choice buying an Edition 30. So what spec does yours have? Xenons FTW. :happy2:

Thanks for the comments!  :happy2:

Spec-wise it's got everything I was looking for and completely standard from factory.

Diamond black metallic paint
DSG
Multi-function steering wheel
Xenons
RNS-510
6 CD multi-changer
iPod connection
10 speaker upgrade
19,500 miles

It's pretty much fully loaded - I just want to add cruise control so that's on my list of things to do.

I looked for one for months (probably over a year in the end).

Love it so far!

I'm in the market for a similar spec edition 30. They are rarer than hens teeth

Cheers for the comments.

Yes, I was looking for ages for the right car with the right spec and the right mileage.  I'll happily keep an eye out and if I hear of anything I can pass it on GROWLER?  It all depends on budget and as all things, I believe you get what you pay for.

I put a lot of miles on my previous car but I'm tempted not to do the same with the Golf.

Anyway, I took the Golf to the VW main dealer yesterday for a DSG oil and filter change.  Also had new brake discs and pads on all 4 corners.   :happy2:  I'm tempted to change the front two tyres too.  Thinking Pirellis (any good?) as they are on there at the mo?

I've got a screen problem with the RNS-510 so (and thanks to the great tutorials and forum members on here!) I've removed it from the car and taken it apart.  I've just bought a replacement screen so will swap it over.

Thanks people!

I think the dsg oil and filter was £169 at VW mate. I'll double check that but think that was the price. Job done.

Just had cruise control fitted too. Really happy as I have that on my other car.
