Well after starting a new job 7 months ago, that's got enough work for two people and sucking up 12 hour shifts 5 days a week for a salary based on 8 hours a day - the glimmering light at the end of tunnel has been extinguished with regards to getting my company car, I was going to go for cash for cars, sell my eddy and buy a new golf R - I've now been told that I can't get the car because I'm only aloud up to a group 32 insurance !!
On cash for cars they give you a fixed allowance wheather you buy a polo or a Ferrari - the company pay no further costs or insurances so I'm not quite sure as to why I'm restricted buy insurance !
Anyway not happy - I'm seriously contemplating buying the cheapest new car I can find eg a brand new 7k car and pocketing the rest of the cash for cars allowance, parking the car in my allocated car park at work and never driving it ! Unless it's for business use which would be about 3 times a month - ill commute daily in the eddy or have a cycle in to work if it's a nice day.

That's was honestly what I was thinking about getting.
I'll get a free car and an extra few hundered squid a month in my hand - that would be awesome parking that up next to the audis and mercs. Then in four years when it's time for my new company car I can sell it with 5k on the clock and with any luck I might get £50 quid for it !

My Mk7 golf R is the cheapest car I have insured, quotes come back from as low as £156 to £230 , are you talking mk6 or mk7 ?
-
Mk7 R - it's insurance group 34D my work will only allow a car up to group 32 - even though I will need to pay for the Insurance :stupid: work that one out ? The only reason I can think off is to establish a clear class divide between management !

The 2014 TSI cupra is in group 32

^^^
Well I never realised that was within my grouping, I will say that I went and had a look at one and while I didn't dislike it looks wise it didn't do enough for me to want one. No doubt it will be great to drive though.

Golf 7R is silly cheap to insure, its actually cheaper to insure the R with 6 years pncd than my Polo with 2 years pncb
