It might be my imagination but the Aircon in my car does not seem to go as cold as it did before.
Initially when had the car after a minute or so it was real cold but now at best just seems to be mildly cold air which is nothing like before
What things should I be checking or replacing to resolve this

May need re-gassing

Is that a garage job or can it be done DIY?

Think it's a garage job

Yep garage job mate. Most garages can do it

Any idea how much this costs and is it something done as part of a service?
-
It would probably be extra on a service. But think it's between £50 and £70
May be cheaper though so don't hold me to it

Shop around.
I've found a deal on Groupon for a AC check and regas for £16 :happy2:
-
Haha I was in the same situation 2 weeks ago and have now wasted a few hundred which has yielded basically no improvement (see my thread). It's rarely as simple as just a regas. Looking bad should just have ignored and learned to live with it
-
Regas is most likely what's needed. Try that for about £50 before you start thinking the worst :happy2:

Loads of places do a re-gas for £40-50, sometimes less. Have a drive to your local industrial estates / business parks and look out for a board. Quite a few around here.
They should do a pressure/leak test as well.
-
Mines playing up at the moment too, VW charge £29 for a 'top up' and £79 for a re gas
-
Just had mine done on Saturday. Re-gas cost £49 and took 45 mins at my local kwik fit. Wouldn't usually go there but it's all done via an automated machine, they can't get it wrong lol! Ice cold a/c now.
