Am I a mind reader? I have no idea how that was aggressive.

If you're such a nice kind forum member, why didn't you just post your opinion to the OPs question

If I had said "FFS HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO HELP YOU IF YOU DONT GIVE US ANY F**KING INFO YOU DICK HEAD"

Then yes, that would have been aggressive.

This time of year its about low thirties around town, about 35 cruising at motorway 70mph and anywhere up to 45mpg if driving carefully.
In winter it drops way down

I have a remapped manual with forge twintake, I drive it pretty hard and get around 23mpg mostly motorway miles with a few short journeys to work and back.
Title: Re: mpg
Post by: shreddedmeat on May 04, 2014, 08:48:29 pm
around 23mpg mostly motorway miles

Christ, you might as well have a bloody V8

30 avg all day long for me. 35 motorway, it'll touch 40 if I take the piss. In town/traffic its a total write-off (sub 20mpg)
Title: Re: mpg
Post by: RifGTi on May 04, 2014, 11:35:42 pm
this time of year im looking at at around the folloing MPG

-21 mpg round busy traffic
-26-28 mpg round town when its quiet
-35ish mpg doing around 80mph on motoway runs
-40+ doing economy runs which involve driving at 60mph and very very boring lol. I say 40+ cuz i dont hang around doing 60 for long before reverting back to a little more speed lol

in winter i will probably see a drop of around 3 mpg in all figures. However town driving i have seen 16mpg on some of the colder days

My car is a standard gti with a stage 1 r tech remap
hope that helps

Gti stage 1 manual. Get low 20's around town on reasonably short runs and low 30's on a steady motorway run. I have no idea how some people see 40 mpg.

25mpg. I mainly do 8 mile and under trips and the occasional long journey. It's a standard '07 Mk5 GTI.....

My trip 2 currently says 34.8 I think. Can't remember over how many miles that is, as I never reset it, it just rolls over and does it when it clips the mileage limit on trip 2. Over a typical 12 month period, mine is probably averaging around 33 mpg. 07 Stg1 DSG GTI.

Can I join in :happy2: don't have a GTI but not so dissimilar engine albeit a bit more powerful

Short journeys and honing it about reading 24mpg at moment?

Best long run 37.8mpg

Funnily enough when I was bluefinned I would get approx 26mpg round town and 37.8mpg above was with the bluefin.

I reset the second trip when i picked up the car and that's read a solid 30.0mpg over 2500miles . Usual pottering about town/Country roads i average about 24-26mpg and on the work run (M1 8 miles and dual carriageway 2 miles and  1.5 miles on a straight a road) i get 39-41mpg. I never get foot down on way to work because its work and i don't want to be there any quicker than i have to be. :scared:

stage 1 - 25mpg on my short commute (6.5 miles) motorway ive seen 35mpg but mostly about 32 !

Since getting the stat replaced I now always get above 20mpg on short/town journeys.

Motorway is now always above 30mph usually around 33mpg

A roads are usually around 35mpg. Could get higher on all of the above but that would take the fun out of having a gti!

Got this today on  a 170 mile trek up the motorway, cruise set to 70 the whole way. Think I'd have to really try hard to get anything higher!

Agree completely, the long term average is 27 and I've been making full use of the power! Just thought it'd be interesting to see what it does over a long motorway cruise.

Mine averaged 28-35 average  then had a stage one mapp now I average 38-42 driving moderately. But of I drive like miss daisy I can see 45mpg but that is so boring one I saw on the average setting only once was 48.

But on the general it's 38-42
This was the reason I went for the gti as it does good mpg and is quick fun.

Got this on the return journey today:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fx267%2FJ400uk%2F88CEC22A-8582-422A-A365-00EBC453A667_zpsczbmbofr.jpg&hash=7c040082577b3a8fdaef0e660d55fd862b43e3b4)

Again just sticking to speed limits and using cruise control, but not driving with economy in mind. Must have been the warmer weather!
