Title: Intercooler for 2.0 TFSI
Post by: _Dejan_ on May 05, 2014, 08:20:25 am
Hello everyone,
I need little help or advice on Intercooler upgrade. I have audi TT 2.0 200HP which have standard IC which is equiped with K03 turbo engines... In next 2 months I will swap K03 to K04 Hybrid(I have most parts already at home) and need upgrade intercoller to bigger one... As Im search there is a lot of options... Im not interested on APR intercoller because is to expensive...
So can someone tell me which of this IC's will be best choise:
1.)S3 Intercooler with plastic connectors
2.)S3 Intercooler with alloy connectors(1K0145803P)
3.)TA TECHNIX Intercooler(LINK: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400477751873)
4.)X-Parts Intercooler(LINK: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181279925815)

I think that 3&4 are same(visualy) but Im not shure... So which one would you take?

As I know it do not need be specific intercooler for TT and S3 and others which are for GTI fit on it... THS is to expensive(800€) same as eurojet and I think airtec fall in same price range...
3&4 intercooler from my first post visualy looks like THS. 4-th one from X-Part have also dimensions and volume same as THS, 3-th one do not have any specifications...

I don't need best intercooler on market, because I don't do track days, but I need it because is mandatory for stage 3...

Hi mate i also have an Audi TT, i am running on k04 at the moment. I used Airtec twintercooler brilliant bit of kit and brings it right to the front of the TT bumper. Is your manual or DSG as it makes a difference for the pipe from the intercooler to the inlet manifold?

It is DSG(S-Tronic). I think that twintercooler is not efficient as normal upgrade intercooler and maybe can provide small lag, price is same as normal intercooler, but maybe is easier to install... so I think I will look normal stock IC replace upgrade...

I thought THS intercoolers were made in China and May even be made at the same factory as the cheaper Ebay ones. I'd go for the cheapest EBay one if that's the case.

Thanks for you reply. all 4 are pretty close in price range and I think that 3 or 4 is better choise than OEM S3 one... I know that APR, Airjet, Eurojet or some other brand will be better, but price is 2-3x of this ebay one and performance is not a lot of beter... I know that if I will build car for track days and racing I will chose better IC but for normal driving I think it is not worth ....

Im in the same boat as you mate except im looking to get one for my gti. Ive been told the cheaper ebay twintercooler settup is good but thats providing your std intercooler is ok. When i built one for my mk2 20vt i used a cheap ebay intercooler and it was brilliant. I think if you could get one of the cheap ebay intercoolers at the right size then make up your pipes you would be quids in?

As stated in another thread, I have just sold my S3 Revo 2+ which had their FMIC, so once I have gathered up all the standard parts that didn't go with the car, I will have the OEM FMIC for sale so watch the classifieds section
