Title: Diverter valve.help.
Post by: tom38 on May 05, 2014, 02:56:36 pm
I have a 55 plate gti and when I accelerate it whistles loads, and when changing gear in boost it sounds like a have a after market dump valve!
I've covered 30,000 miles in this car but lately it seems under powered. ?.
If I get a revision G. Dv, is it possible to fit at home??
Any advise will be much appreciated thanks tom.

Hi Tom.

This is discussed very regularly

See here for some detail on fitting: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,44709.0.html

Plenty of how-to guides on the forum  :happy2:

It's only 3 Allen key bolts so it's not hard, but it's a bit fiddly to get to without a ramp (on a normal GTI).

Brill thank you very much, I had it off a year ago now and it didn't seem in to bad condition but it seems a bit gutless now! Thanks for the link tho.

Just replaced Dv with new division g... The one I took off had 3 tears in it and oil everywhere and said on the side it was a revision B....
.?
Smoother idle and better throttle response, I must say that it doesn't seem to have that same acceleration as before it went to pop.
Maybe slightly better torque as the turbo winds up but doesn't seem to pull as aggressive as before?
Dunno maybe I'm just imagining it but at least the problem is gone ! N only took 40 mins yew !
