Title: RNS 510 upgrade with mdi for mk5 help!!!!!
Post by: bizz on May 06, 2014, 12:28:22 am
I've managed to get my hands on the latest rns (i think) also the full arm rest mdi kit, can't wait to get home and fit this all in to my ed 30 which had mfd2 with ipod dock in the armrest (which i will be selling)
Problems
1. the rns is constantly dim
2. need the aerial adapter
3. the battery drain (I've read about the can bus thingy but got no clue where and how to change that)

any help and guides how to get all this working correctly? i wanna add aux eventually too!!!1

any ideas and help would be much appreciated thank you

Hi bizz in answer to your questions I am not fully clued up on all the issues raised, but from what I have read via the forum.
1) have you tried resetting the system?
2) aerial adaptors (fakra) are available on eBay for around £7
3) If your Ed30 is a 07/57 onwards then the canbus should be ok.
4) the latest versions of the rns (excluding dab) would have an led screen and a star button next to the eject button.

Hope that helps, although there are many others on the forum who are more knowledgable than me who can clarify any points raised.

hi rob
my ed 30 is 07
how would i know if the rns is draining the battery?
yes the rns i have has the star in the top right so i believe it to be the led version not sure if it is DAB 1T0035680D HW:H42 SW:3970 but the dim backlight is a real killer!!!
how do you reset the system?
thanks :happy2:
