Hi all
In my 'intro' post i said i was hoping to improve the exterior of my standard tdi and was recruiting the parts needed... well today it has gone in to the bodyshop.
I got hold of a New front gti conversion bumper with fog lights, rear lower valance (no exhaust cut - as preference), genuine side skirts and 17 cades wheels. All to be painted grey with black gloss on rear lower valance / diffuser section.
Estimated 3 days work - costing a small fortune but it will be the exact car i want which is the beauty of modifications surely!
My goal is to have a clean and smart looking car that is excellent on the mpg for work and kids taxi'ing!
Pre- and post pictures to follow.
Cheers...

Look forward to seeing the outcome :happy2:

I can see this being a lovely looking car ^^^^^ as stated Xenons will compliment the front :happy2: get some projector style fog lights too :signLOL:
Sorry for trying to spend your money

Look forward seeing the finished article! Pretty much what you doing is what I done to mine, facelifted bumper, sideskirts and clean rear valance with lower gloss black finish! The only difference is I went with the GT Sport frontend on mine rather than GTI that you're going for.
If you're upgrading the wheels then you should consider lowering it if you're on stock springs otherwise it would look a bit off (my car looks like a 4x4 at the moment with my BBS', hoping to get it lowered within the week or two once I get my Koni dampers). It doesn't have to be extreme, given that it's a daily you probably want the lowering springs and uprated damper combo to keep it relatively comfy.
-
Being a tdi owner myself you need an r32 spoiler, it transforms the whole rear of the car.
Great colour choice :happy2: look forward to seeing it finished

Looking forward to reading this build thread

What rear valance is that? Seen it on a few but never says what it is.

Just a cheap job from eBay - probably via Europe. It's come up superb. I'll put some links once I collect it tomorrow or Tuesday.
Thanks all!

Looks to me like one of these. Same as the R32 bumper but without any cut outs for exhausts.

That's the one I went for with mine, generally it looks nice and tidy.

Though the bodyshop guy that did them for me admitted the plastic material and initial fitment is "crap" so needed a bit of prep work. But I'm curious to hear what the eBay versions are like myself.
-
Do these fit easy enough? Looking at getting one myself
-
Yes the eBay link is the one I have.
Bodyshop said similar - needed proper prep and number of coats.
Collecting tomorrow - so will post some pics.
Have been holding out on collection for new wheels to arrive as the 2nd hand cades I bought were bmw bolt pattern!
Grrrr having to collect tomorrow because I need it - gonna look sweet with standard 15inch still on there - lol.
Gutted New wheels arriving Thursday!
-
Looks much better :happy2:
Any more plans?
-
Ha plenty but absolutely skint for now!
-
You kept that red interior quiet!!!!
-
I'm liking that interior, just needs a bit of lowering and debadge at the back to settle it! Though my OCD senses think the front reg plate should be slightly centre of the black grille but thats me! :fighting2:
