Title: Edition 30 input shaft play?

My edition 30 has developed a horrible knocking grinding noise when clutch pressed and intermitatly the clutch pedle sticks half way. Having looked at it I have found the gearbox input shaft has play in. I've seen some other posts about this but all a few years old just wondering if anyone has come up with a fix or knows any where that can machine the casing due to bearing spinning in case. Any help will be a big help. Thanks.

How shore are you on the gearbox input shaft play? Iv looked in to this mine had a slight bit in the box they are not common for doing this it's more the passat box my clutch peddle started doing this I had the box out for other reasons all iv done is replace the slave cylinder
