Hi everyone,
I've been a member on R32OC for a little while now and thought I'd look for a MK5 forum to join. I'm actually contemplating a swap to an Edition 30 but for now, a little bit about my car....
It's a fairly basic spec manual five-door with leather, satnav and a resonated Milltek system.

First thing I changed was the shift linkage to a Neuspeed short shift. Ordered it a day after picking up the car! Hated the long throw of the OEM linkage, it is hugely better now. Also some minor improvements to breathing...

Didn't rate the Milltek so I had a custom system made by AAS a month or two down the line. It's a resonated system with 3inch outward rolled tips. This is a video of it first fitted, sounds a little different now.

Then came some miscellaneous mods...

I like storage space lol.

Fast forward a few months...it was time to sort the stance out. So along came...

With the following results...

I picked up a puncture a day before my refurb was due in. Handy as I planned on changing the mixture of budget and Bridgestones that the previous owner had fitted. Not so nice on the wallet though! Bank holiday weekend meant I could only get a hold of two tyres. So the other two to be fitted next week. I went for Michelin PS3s.

I spent ages looking for the right colour but after much to-ing and fro-ing, we got there eventually. Many thanks to Chris @ wefixalloys for his hard work!
That just about brings me up to date. I don't have anything major planned but hoping to fit my Recaros this summer and various other bits and bobs, which I'll update on here.
Hope you've enjoyed the read!

Lovely R and in the best colour too. :happy2:

very very nice mate! love the storage mod under the parcel shelf...never seen that before! :happy2:

Thanks lads! The shelf is OEM VW accessory but unfortunately it has been discontinued now
-
welcome to the forum--the colour of your car is excellent and goes well with the black wheels :happy2:
-
Welcome mate, would be great to see a how to on that storage space under the parcel shelf. Also best colour choice Steel Grey FTW! :happy2:

I agree Andy, but when was the last time you cleaned your puter screen. They don't look like black wheels to me. :signLOL:

Thanks peeps!

Lovely attention to detail, whats the part number on the storage tray? Also what KWs did you get? Lovely photos

Thanks buddy.
Part number is 1K0061178A and it seems ECS now have them in stock again!
I went or KWV1 in the end which I find are a little soft for the R32. I couldn't justify the costs of V3s at the time but they would've probably been a better buy

Yeah I was lucky managed to get a bargain V3s for my ED30! They're on 3 clicks from soft atm but still supple but a nice amount of firmness, I may turn them up in the summer we shall see.
I shall look that part up, thanks again! Good work.

Very nice :happy2: Loving the colour of your wheels
-
lovely R buddy and nice wheel colour choice :happy2:

If you crave more storage space it might be worth looking at retro fitting the under seat storage drawers.
The car looks really smart too, the exhaust sounds perfect.

I did look into this but I have a set of Recaros from my Clio to fit in the summer so figured there isn't much point. Good mod though!

Oops, haven't updated here for a while! A couple of things have been done since my last update....
First off, I fitted new D2S and H7 FTP bulbs. I went for the Osram Xenarc Night Breaker Unlimited bulbs. Night driving is much better now, the performance of these bulbs is awesome! Amazon are still doing them relatively cheap http://www.amazon.co.uk/XENARC-BREAKER-UNLIMITED-headlamp-66240XNB-HCB/dp/B00FQ8AVHS (http://www.amazon.co.uk/XENARC-BREAKER-UNLIMITED-headlamp-66240XNB-HCB/dp/B00FQ8AVHS)

My bulbs were mismatching as the previous owner must have replaced one at some point so I was very happy that I finally managed to sort this issue out...OCD! Here's a comparison pic...

Here is a before and after shot to give you an idea of the performance difference between OEM and the Osrams. Same place, same camera settings...as close as I could get to the same environment.

Next up, I picked up a DAS6-Pro Machine Polisher a couple of months back and gave it a whirl on my car. I've never tried machining...it's hard graft but the results are worth it!
A couple of quick before and afters...
I finished up with a layer of Finish Kare 1000p Sealant. Check out the beadage!

I also tackled the exhaust tips. A year of dirt...I've never been bothered about clean exhaust tips but thought I'd try to correct my erroneous ways! After a bit of research, P21S Polishing Soap seemed to be the way to go but it has been discontinued. It turns out this JML Doktor Power stuff is the same thing...available for around £5 from Asda.
I washed then used the soap to clean off carbon and the less heavy stains. Worked a treat TBH! I then used some #00 steel wool + Autosol to attack some burnt egg stains (car got egged a while ago  ) which has unfortunately left some marring but I shall try to correct when I have some finer grade wool.

And most recently...managed to clean the car today after a bit of neglecting due to work. Also discovered what looks like a door ding on my roof. How does that even happen?! Makes me sick. Anyway, a couple of quick shots...enjoy!
