Title: My Silver Edition 30
Post by: Steve0 on May 07, 2014, 11:01:44 pm
Hi folks, first post here so be kind. Been a lurker on the forums for a while and figured it was about time I said hello and posted a couple of photos of the Eddy.

I purchased it in November on only 30k with all the options I wanted -  MFSW, Highline, Nav, Factory standard.

Since November I've done a few bits that were outstanding on the car..

- Booked it into VW for a cambelt, water pump and minor service
- Replaced the bonnet catch which began getting stiff
- Replaced a grubby looking wing mirror indicator
- Started detailing panels as and when I got the chance, not easy finding the time over winter

Once I was happy that the car was in a fit state, I took the leap and booked it into R-Tech for a Stage 1 remap. I've read countless reviews on here and it seemed like the best place for the job.

I did the 3 hour drive up there on Thursday morning and Niki worked his magic. I asked him to give me a progressive map that gave a healthy increase in power but didn't put too much stress on the clutch. His response was to do a Stage 1 map but keep the torque within a safe limit to prevent it getting worn too prematurely. The results were 300bhp and 303lb/ft. He's having problems with his Dyno at the moment so these were calculated figures from his mapping software.

To say I'm happy with the remap is an understatement. The car has always felt nippy but with the stage 1 remap the car now gives a 'sense of occasion' when driving. The difference is night and day, effortless power when I want it in practically any gear, but can also be driven as if it were still standard. I'd thoroughly recommend R-Tech to anyone considering getting their car mapped.

Welcome, manual or DSG?

Manual mate, hence the worry about the clutch and high torque figures.

Thanks for the kind words folks!

Welcome on board. Nice looking Eddy you've got there.  :drinking:

Niki is slipping if your clutch isn't!! It'll go sooner or later, best get it over and done with and get an uprated one and then your free to add more POWER!! Loads of us are R-Tech fanboys on here, glad your happy with your map.
