Hi
So the engine on my mk5 GTI has seized on me recently. I initially was looking at just putting a direct replacement in but am now seriously considering upgrading to the engine out of an S3. I've potencially lined up an engine but would like a little advise from people on here that have done this conversion before I decide to make the upgrade. Other than remapping ecu will this work with my DSG gearbox? Is there any other issues I need to address?

The S3 engine will fit your GTI, my mate recently done the conversion on his manual GTI with no issues. Just make sure you get a S3 DSG engine with proof of mileage and also have it checked out by a mechanic as you don't want another engine with problems.

Will an engine from an S3 manual not work then? Aren't they the same block & fitting? I'll be using the ECU from my car so wont that allow it to work with the DSG?

Engines are the same weather it be out of a manual or DSG.
