Got two three year olds with some long haul 14hr flights coming up....
Leappad 3S
Innotab
IPad mini
Cheap £80 android 7" tablet from eBay
Galaxy Tab 3
Availability of strong cases is a must.....
Let's hear it please
-
Tesco Hudl ?
failing any of the above, plenty of calpol

Avoid the cheap eBay job like the plague! I use them at work on a daily basis and almost always attempt suicide afterwards.
The gf bought a HP slate7 which is very good. It won't blow your socks off like a Nexus7 but is god for watching videos and playing more basic games.
The Tesco hudle WILL blow your socks off as it's a very capable tablet, it'll play the most recent android games and Tesco sell a decent case too.

Harry knows what he's doing on the mini. Just be sure to turn off 'in app purchases' & restrict the App Store in the settings :happy2:

If cost isn't an issue get them an ipad mini (non retina)
http://www.game.co.uk/en/ipad-mini-16gb-wi-fi-black-191052?pageSize=20&searchTerm=ipad%20mini&catGroupId=
at the end of the day they are the easiest to use, they are generally quick enough. And battery will last the longest.
Next i would go Nexus 7 (2013)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Google-Nexus-Qualcomm-Android-inch/dp/B00H964PN6
Don't forget with the nexus you can claim £50 store credit:
https://asuspromotions.com/googleplay
That should cover a good few games/apps/movie rentals to keep them happy.
I would never advise anyone spend less than the nexus 7 money on a tablet...all they will do is complain about it otherwise.

Get the iPad.
I appreciate some of the other devices are cheaper, and maybe even better - but none of them have the functionality or vast, superb range of apps. And that's what counts.
Oh, and an Otterbox.

I thought u meant tablets to knock the kids out for the journey lol!
:surprised: :surprised: :surprised: :surprised: :surprised:

Three years old? Cheapest one possible with enough battery to last the journey. In my experience they'll drop 'em and break them, or by the time they're old enough to want to use all the apps and crap which people insist on being able to load on, then the tablets will be out of fashion and not suitable anyway.

i agree regarding them being way too young but wifey thinks its a good idea so there we go......
Just looked at otter boxes (nice one Mike) and they look like a good idea so Ive come full circle and thinking iPad mini for £182 on ebay and the otter box and all four series of peppa and ben and holly
At least the iPads will be worth something in 2 years as long as they're not smashed up
Any thoughts????

Otterbox, lifeproof, defender are all pretty bomb proof. Nats has had a super rubberised ebay protector on and has survived Harry with ease. The more expensive options would offer more piece of mind I suppose.

Harry got to grips with some of the educational games quite quickly at 2+, now knows where to find films and touch wood had always treat it with respect. The only annoying thig is developers putting adverts in kid based apps. In app purchasing and AppStore can be disabled in the setting easily enough though

Our Tesco Hudl (£96) with the rubberised case has proved child proof so far, seems to be every bit as good as my gen1 nexus too :happy2:

Yeah, they don't need the latest version by any means - a second hand one is fine and they'll always be worth something, or find another use for it. You don't need a 3G one either, simply tether it to your phone if there's no wifi.
Only real negative is iTunes is an annoying piece of **** software.

Kindle Fire HD is ok but iPad is always a clear winner (if a bit pricey) !
