Title: Upgrading speakers
Post by: jack_maxwell on May 13, 2014, 11:15:43 am
Hi, I've got the standard 1.4 mk5. The sound system isn't the best as it only has speakers in the front door that aren't very good. Can i get away with simply upgrading these speaker and not have to install an amp as well? Do your gti's have amps in them from factory?

Ive got a RCD510 installed at the moment

I have Hertz ESK163Ls in.
Only the tweeters and subs/low speakers as the mids don't fit I'm in discussion with Car Audio Security about why.

Do the gti's have amps with the standard sound system?. My brothers rocco has a pretty good standard sound system and i dont think he has an amp so if i can get to the level his is at i'll be happy

No it was an option on later models...

If you're going to bother upgrading buy a better head unit as the standard ones aren't very good for quality and some uprated door speakers.
