Hi guys
Well after 4 very happy years I said goodbye to my cherished Edition30!
I needed to go for a diesel this time due to miles and seriously considered the Mk7 GTD, however after seeing and test driving the new Leon FR 184 and an amazing deal offerd by my local SEAT dealership I bit the bullet!!
Here she is after a clean today, Monsoon Grey with the upgraded LED lights and Tech Pack, 18" wheels, Sound upgrade which includes 9 speakers and subwoofer, comfort pack and sunroof......got to say i love it
Performance is great and pulls like a train, handling is a real delight and a good blend and you have the option to choose between normal, Eco or Sport mode, the latter providing the sound actuator through the speakers and actually sounds less like a diesel than then Edition30 engine
I'm sure it will perform better once a few more miles on the clock as all feels very tight and the best bit is I'm currently achieving 51mpg which should rise to mid 50's after a few thousand hopefully and possibly 60mpg on a long run :happy2:
Here's some pics......

Really nice, the interior looks a fair bit nicer than the older Leons, great colour too.
Any mods planned  or is it going to stay as is?
-
Very nice. Have a Monsoon Leon on order myself. :happy2:
I doubt mine will get near 50 mpg, though!
-
Nice car!!
Pleasantly surprised when I saw the interior shot, looking good!!

Thanks mate, no performance mods planned but will be adding the bigger rear spoiler soon and possibly the side skirts and rear bumper with the twin pipes each side that's just been launched through SEAT

Cupra?
I considered one but just couldn't justify the petrol cost!

Yes interior is a very nice place to be and the only thing that put me off the Mk2 Leon TBH.
There's a few shortcuts that SEAT have taken to save money but I can live without them compared to an extra £5k on an equivalent Golf GTD!
Loving the seats as half leather and cloth like in the Edition30

Sounds like a good plan, with 184bhp it shouldn't be any slouch anyway. Will be good to see that rear bumper.

Yup. Petrol not a problem, seeing as I currently drive an R32! :signLOL:
Realistically, I'll probably be looking at an extra 5-6 mpg (I hope!)

Looks awesome! Although after a test drive I'm not convinced the interior is up to Golf standards, they are very well equipped and can't be beaten for the price :happy2:
-
Nice photographs.. I was pleasantly surprised when I visited my local Seat Dealership. Had a sit in the FR and was impressed with the improved interior, and overall value for money. You've done well there, looks well.
-
Simply stunning  I love the new Leon's, they look fantastic and go well :happy2:

Yes I agree, there is still a difference in quality compared with the Golf but that said the difference has reduced compared with the mk2 SEAT and it's equivalent stablemate and so much so that for a £4-5k saving over the Golf is a no brainier for me.
The overall package and looks of the new Leon is sure to affect sales of the Mk7 Golf.
Thanks for everyones comments also, with just over 1000 miles on the clock now I can't really fault the Leon with no issues to mention currently :happy2:
-
Activated the needle sweep, lap timer, fuel remaining display and alarm chirp today thanks to Eddie-NL, all great little additions to all the other functions and toys on the FR :happy2:
-
Cupra gets a lot of those out of the box. Is VCDS still all in German with MQB cars? I'll be doing the chirps and turning on the rear lights to match the DRLs. Never quite understood why DRLs are only required at the front of cars...??
-
It's all German to me!!! Haha
Not sure mate, Ed did all the work but was having to go on a German site to assist with finding the correct coding?
-
What's the difference between fuel remaining and the range displayed on the DIS in your pics?

It shows how many litres you have left in the tank
