Title: Are there two styles of fog light?
Post by: nc35 on October 19, 2009, 05:16:56 pm
Hi All

I still need to replace my NSF fog light (if anyone has one for sale let me know please).

After looking online all the ones I have seen picture off look different to mine???

You can't see the bulb with the fogs fitted to my car, they look like they are obscured by something like the HID bulbs have.  All the pics on the internet have the bulbs exposed.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1003.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Faf153%2Fgawthorpe%2FFogLightscopy.jpg&hash=39e5703629003632ca0001130d3e6a89fdbab20a)

The bottom image looks like mine, but everywhere says not GTI

Anyone know the difference or if the bottom one will fit?

Else I suppose I am going to have to contact the stealers  :sad1:

Cheers

Lee

They are listed on eBay as early or projector type Mk5 GTI foglights  :happy2:

You can still get the projector type ones from the stealer, don't think they're too much money either as I looked at swapping mine for that type a while ago. Don't have the part numbers to hand as I'm working away from home, but give them your reg or VIN and they'll sort you out.

Thank you for all your help.
I never knew there were two types, and found it really confusing when they were listed as not for GTI

The projector type look really good in my opinion. So a call to the dealer tomoz and a better search on eBay.

Thanks again for your help and useful information.

P. S. If anyone does have the part number it would be helpful as they take ages looking up parts.

Anyone know why there's a difference? Is it part of the cost cutting exercise with newer versions of the MK5?
