Title: Edition 30
Post by: chipmunk82 on May 15, 2014, 05:14:16 pm
Been on the site a while but not really said much!
On the look out for an Edition 30 and just wondered what the optional extras were?

From what I can gather the extras are

Armrest
stereo/satnav
multi function wheel
sunroof
folding and auto dip mirrors
privacy glass
highline DIS
Headlight washers
Parking sensors
CD changer
Ipod connector

Anything else to consider?
I see the brochure here but it doesn't mention extras! http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/assets/common/pdf/brochures/old-brochure/Golf/Golf-GTI-November-2006.pdf

Cheers

Thanks  :drinking:

So what comes with those packs?  is the smoking pack a lighter and an ashtray? Is the lighter not standard then?
Wish the brochure had a bit more detail with regard to extras!

Smoking pack includes front and rear ashtray and a lighter up front I think.

Welcome mate, you've made the right choice wanting an Edition 30 GLWYS. :drinking:

That's interesting about the lighter, would have assumed one was standard!
I use my one with my phone charger all the time

Looking for a low mileage (under 50k if poss) Tornado Red, 3 door manual, pref with highline DIS, folding mirrors, armrest and smoking pack it would appear!  :driver:
Been waiting a while but would rather get the one that feels right

Welcome on board!  :drinking:

Everything can be retrofitted without a problem (except the sunroof and glass, that would be a fuss).

Happy Eddy hunting.

You still get a 12v charging point if there is no cigarette lighter , just has a flip top to it .

Didn't realise most things could be retrofitted, even the folding mirrors?
Not fussed about the sunroof and actually prefer the look without privacy glass.
Have had a DSG A3 before and although smooth and quick I just prefer the feel of a manual.
Can I ask whether the cam follower, dv and pcv need changing as a matter of cause? Should I be weary of ones without newer revisions?
Thanks

Folding mirrors can be retro fitted. Unlike others cars the mirrors on a Mk5 don't fold a lot anyway so IMHO it wouldn't be high up on the list.

I'd update all those things as a precautionary measure. Latest DV is the revision G, ask at the dealers re the PCV, IIRC it's revision is dependant on the year or your car, possibly an N revision and the cam follower is the cam follower. All those part numbers can be found in the "part number" section. Should be around £100 for all 3 items.

And no I wouldn't worry if the car is still running the original OEM parts if they are all working as they should, just can't hurt to update them.

N Version PCV is now extinct. The "R" version is the right part now - the dealers will pull the correct part number off the system for your car anyway  :happy2:

What are the rough times to change? I changed the DV on my old 1.8T for a 007p as it was on top of the TIP, but these are more integrated from what I see.

Does anyone find the MFSW gets in the way? I put my hand there sometimes when on the motorway?

DV on your K04 Eddy is a quick change over, just don't drop those bolts, that's a pain. All the info on DV change, cam follower and PCV are in the "How to" section....

I bought one  :happy2:
Bodywork a bit tatty but only up close. (few small scuffs and wheels all have slight curbing)
Not sure I want to put pics up yet

Main issues are the fan is rather loud, and the rear light has condensation in.
Are they a sealed unit or is it better to buy another rather than risk taking it apart to dry?
