Hey guys just joined here today as i picked up my ed 30 last wed and already having problems :(. Basically when im in drive in gear two slowly accelerating it refuses to change gear until like 5000 revs and to be quite honest im thinking of taking the car back altogether even though i have it under a 3 month warranty at the minute. I am really worried about this situation. I am in the process of booking it in with vw but thought maybe some of you experienced heads could share some light on the problem.
Thanks James

Forget to mention
57 plate
36,000 miles
Gearbox service in 2012

Could be a faulty abs sensor.
I would take it back to the garage and let them sort it out.

I said that but they said do get it done through the warranty, obviously that was there plan so they didn't have to fork out, man i hope it's something simple i just wanna go for a nice drive.

At the risk of sounding stupid but...
Are you in D mode and not S mode??
-
mechatronics issues??
If it has it's original mechs installed, 57 plate DSG cars were very common with Mechatronics issues over early and later plate cars..
Take it back if it has a warranty soon as.

It does seem silly but if you aren't used to DSG you will sh*t your pants all the time.
Going down a hill it'll randomly down shift for the engine braking,
Uphill it won't change gear and it will rev quite high,
If you're in S it won't change till 5/6k
If you tap the paddles it temporarily keeps it in Manual mode fr 30 seconds, I often think whys it not changing, and then i realised 200 meters ago i upshifted with a paddle.
So yeah as a summary it can be difficult to understand, however I would strongly say its probably not the Mech unit gone.

It'a in D mode. Now im just think im being a little bit paranoid but i have booked it in with vw anyway. I think it may be something do with the guy who owned it before me drove it like a old man where im 24 so obviously i drive it a little different at times. Read up on how it learns etc.
