Post by: sam25man on May 18, 2014, 12:29:38 am
Hi everyone
I have this item:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190859587792
was wondering wether it will fit a RCD300 stereo
Also wether I would need a adaptor
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

The white connector at the end of that item in the link goes straight into the back of the RCD300 where you'll find the majority of wires leading to not sure on what its actually called but you'll know what i mean when you pull the RCD300 out.

My iPhone/iPod kit works in exactly the same way except i had to connect the earth from iPod setup to the earth of the bunch of wires mentioned above.
You shouldn't need to do this i don;t think and you shouldn't need any adaptors i am aware of just 'Plug and play'

Only the newer RCD 300 supports AUX Input, identified by the silver buttons. Fitted for MY2007 onwards

No worries mate, wanted aux for a while but was put off by reading threads on  a few forums saying ' you need this loom and these connectors plus coding blah blah  :rolleye: ' where as yours is straight plug and play no hassle for under £28! Bargain if you ask me

Yeah in that case it's unlikely the VW cable will work

I have a Passat 2007 with no CD changer installed. It has got a RCD 300 installed on it. I recently bought http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RCD510-RCD300-USB-AUX-Switch-Cable-Plug-For-Volkswagen-VW-Touran-Tiguan-AC211-/131545099021?hash=item1ea0b2eb0d from ebay in hope of using AUX input and have connected it to the stereo but have no idea on how to AUX input can be selected. I have tried the CD button twice as well. I have attached the picture of my stereo if that helps. Any answer would be much appreciated. Thanks(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fs24.postimg.org%2Fn1iyi3f3p%2FIMAG0028_2.jpg&hash=fa0ac851474ed4d511f698038ae1a966f7b56a79)(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fs3.postimg.org%2Fk5rltnrk3%2Fimage.jpg&hash=c0d46cb61fc191f943d40f953321c25e4252e264)

For the older units I believe that you need more than just a cable. You need to "fool" the head unit into thinking that a CD changer is connected using some electronics.

I have this kit fitted to my RCD300 & works fine.

Could you use the EBay aux port and a iPod connector at the same time? On say a MFD2?

I'm not sure that part you bought is the right one. There is a useful guide here to get it working - http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php/70812-Retro-fitting-VW-Aux-in-Lead-Golf-MK5
