Title: Front speaker rattle
Post by: Mullan on May 18, 2014, 05:39:54 pm
Hi,
I've got a rattle coming from my passenger side bottom speaker when bass is on. I've taken the door card off and noticed vw were kind enough to rivet the speakers in so before I drill them out I just wanted to know if anyone has this problem and solutions?

I'm hoping it might be the speaker wire to the cone is touching the cone when it vibrates or whether the speaker is blown and I require a new one?

Thanks.

I had a rattle when the bass was really pumping. Turned out to be one of the door skin inner bolts was loose.

Is the skin hard to remove, I've seen the torx bolts but not sure how it's on at the top?

To tighten up the torx bolts you don't need to remove the door skin.

you'll probably find its the larger speaker grill mesh if you put your hand on it, it will stop.

sound deadening material will stop it.

To tighten up the torx bolts you don't need to remove the door skin.
I was considering getting access behind the speaker and potentially sound deadening the door skin
