Title: help with upgrading to highline clocks
Post by: usmangti on May 19, 2014, 09:30:48 pm
So I currently have mid line 960D clocks. Can anyone help and advise me if 972D clocks will fit and code correctly?
Any help appreciated!
Thanks
Usman

Thanks guys Eddie has said they should work fine!
Sanj just out of interest, which specialist you referring to?
Eddie and kalu are just too far to visit, I assume they need the car present to code the clocks.

Both those clusters can be DIY'd, if travelling to Eddie or Kalu is too far.

If the 972 clocks dont work with your existing clocks, I have a set of 970 Highline ones for sale

The specialist is VAST on Manchester Road.

The car does not need to be present to code them.

You can send the clocks to Eddie or Kalu to sort the mileage ect out.

@sanj
Never used VAST but reaper7881 knows someone around town for immobiliser coding and pin extraction.

Just to confirm the car does need to be present to code the clocks.

Confused by all this. I was under impression for immobiliser etc and coding car needs to be present?
Ive asked Eddie-NL so will let update this when I hear back

I sent my clocks from Ireland to Kalu and had them back within three days, all sorted

You can remove your clocks and send both sets to either Eddie or Kalu. Or..
You can drive to either Eddie or Kalu and have it done in situ, or anyone local. Or..
You can use an unofficial cable on both of your particular (early mk5) clusters and DIY fit them with immo and mileage correction.

Anyone with VCDS can get them sorted then?

Also you mention early clusters, are there different menus on later clocks?

No mate, you need a bit more than a VCDS cable. IIRC it's a vag commander cable or the like  :happy2:

Yeah sorry thats what I meant. Vag commander.
Theres someone local who can get it sorted. If not it will be eddie or kalu.

Just wondering about late clusters vs early clusters and what the differences are....

The immo type is different hence why later ones are harder to DIY.

Menu's are driven from other modules installed such as the CCM.

Very early clusters (ending 0 or 1) work with a MFSW without a Menu button. You have xx2 clocks so nothing to worry about there.

There are hundreds of threads about this on various forums including on here, worth finding them for a read.
