i used to have a shoutbox at the top of my forum, allows live chat smilies and stuff. Would clear up the random chat and allow open discussion without having to refresh.

another forum i have use this. it comes with part of there membership pack which helps run the site.

Shoutbox's suck! Threads allow new people to re-read previously discussed topics to help them.

Inevitably people ask questions others want to know and it leaves no trace, so is no help!

what about "hi how are you?" and "man im having a bad day" pointless thread but still worth forum humiliation
