Title: Driverside window intermittent problem
Post by: Airz182 on May 26, 2014, 06:36:13 pm
My drivera side window works when it wants to, most of the time it does work, but on odd occasions it wont go down, then wont go up, passangerside works fine, ive undone  to loom inbetween the door and the car, wiggled the wires.... Still nothing.
Wiggled wires in the actual window switch, can here a click at the switch when i use the drivers window, so sounds like power getting to the switch, are the switches known for going iffy??

I would start with a VCDS scan and then do an output test to assist locating the fault using the VCDS tool(a wiggle test ok but not for an intermittent fault) using a multimeter would be the tool of my choice after the results obtained from the VCDS tool.
My thoughts would be either the door wiring or the window module (plenty modules on eBay for £60 and the scan will give the part number of your module fitted) try here for someone local to you.

Clicking noise seems to be coming from that module, if that helps!

Turned out to be the wiring loom from car to door, wires had corroded, so soldered together for now!
